The Loft at Riverside Manor by Jessie Wickliffe

North Jersey has a new venue in Fairlawn. Located on Morlot Ave just off Route 20 in the
Riverside Manor, The Loft celebrated their grand opening February 3 with a massive crowd and
the sounds of A True Story and The Replicants.
This fresh venue is the brain child of Rob Monte. Many of you may know Monte from the
bands Dog Voices and Monte and The Allstars. Now he heads Monte Entertainment which
manages many successful local cover bands. His office is just down the street so he passes
the location all the time. One day he realized that the space upstairs, which was only used
occasionally for private parties, would make a great live venue. He decided to talk to the
management at The Riverside Manor and The Loft was born.
Right now Live at The Loft is an event that takes place every Friday upstairs from the restaurant.
The stage showcases 2 bands a night. There’s a large bar and plenty of room on the dance floor
to rock out to the bands. Upstairs on the mezzanine, bottle service is available and you can get
a bird’s eye view of the stage from above.
Check out The Loft on any Friday night and you’re guaranteed to find some of the area’s most
talented cover bands. Next month Monte plans to add Saturday nights with DJ Prime and other
guest DJs. His future plans are to provide entertainment 4 nights a week at The Loft.
This Friday, February 24 Live at the Loft you can hear the sounds of Almost Easy and Miss. Pop
and The Bad Touch. Come rock out and enjoy happy hour from 9-11pm with $3 Jameson Shots,
Lemon Drop Shots and Domestic Beers.

A fairly new band on the scene Mashwork Orange has been covered by our own Laurel Schrock a few times. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting them myself at Chevy’s Cinco De Mayo party in Clifton. They were playing across the parking lot at Shannon Rose. Here’s the gallery Laurel shot Mashwork Orange at Shannon Rose Clifton 05 07 11 by Laurel. Check out the video, if they’re in your area, go see them!

Steel Panther Live review

So last week I went to see this awesome band from LA called Steel Panther. Now, if you haven’t heard of them yet, you’re crazy because they are the best band ever!
Thanks to CMoore Evil, I got to go see and meet this wonderful band at a sold out show at Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ. For those of you who have already seen the photos and videos I’ve put up, you can see they are all about the 80′s hair metal, which I love. It felt like I got put in a time machine and got to go back to the decade I really belonged in! Hot guys with big hair, spandex leopard print pants, and more makeup on than me! They really showed me up in the photos. They made me truly wish I could go back in time and go to some shows with my Mom!
A lot of people think that these guys are a tribute band, and although they do spend a lot of time talking about the best bands from the 80′s, their songs are original and HILARIOUS. Their shows are a 2-in-1 deal, comedy and kick ass music. My favorite song of the night was “Fat,” a song about a fat-ass groupie that apparently got it on with the drummer, Stix.
They were also extremely interactive with the crowd. Pointing people out and either talking about how lame they were, how hot they were, or how many STD’s they were going to give them later. Personally, the singer pointed me out and gave me the horns or made other sexual suggestive motions to me during quite a few songs, which I thought was hilarious. Ted [Tad] Poley from Danger Danger also came out on stage and sang a song while wearing a shirt that said “Boobies make me smile” and then towards the end of the night, Steel Panther did a cover of Kickstart my Heart by Motley Crue.. My favorite!
Overall, when these guys get into character, they put on one hell of a show, and will keep you cracking up all night. I very highly suggest seeing them if they come to your area.. I know I will if they come back! If you haven’t checked out the videos yet, definitely go take a peek. I have “Fat” as well as their opening song, and tons of video of them bashing on each other and the crowd in-between. I would have recorded the entire show if my camera battery didn’t die!
